Store Fight, Toll Scam: Elmhurst Cops
Two people hit each other at a local store, but police said they could not identify a clear aggressor.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fight, a toll scam, domestic disturbances, battery, burglary and a fleeing car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Fight
- An argument turned physical about 1:30 p.m. March 18 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. They admitted hitting each other. No arrests were made because police could not identify a clear aggressor.

- A resident in the 400 block of North York Street told police last week that he made a debit card payment after receiving a fraudulent text message from a suspect claiming to be with the Illinois Tollway. Such texts have been sent to residents across the state.
Dent scam
- A person outside Mariano's grocery store, 678 N. York St., told police that she was approached by a person who offered to fix a dent in her car about 7 p.m. Sunday. The woman said her car had no damage. She wanted the incident documented.
Domestic disturbance

- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of South Fairfield Avenue. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 12:30. p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of South Linden Avenue. A woman told officers that a man battered her during an argument. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no signs of injury.
Disturbance
- Someone was causing a disturbance about 10 a.m. Sunday at Dunkin' Donuts, 936 N. York St. Officers served the person with a no-trespass notice.
Battery
- A man told police that another person battered him during an argument about 1 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of West Crockett Avenue. Both people declined medical treatment. They agreed to separate for the night. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no signs of injuries.
Burglary
- Police responded about 11:30 p.m. Saturday to a house in the 600 block of West Crockett Avenue to a report of a burglary. An investigation is pending.
Computer scam
- A resident in the 200 block of North Clinton Avenue told police Friday that she called a phone number related to ads that appeared on her computer. After calling the number, someone accessed her personal information and informed her to withdraw $40,000. She refused and reported the incident as a matter of record.
Suspicious
- Officers responded about 10:30 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 600 block of South York Street about a reported burglary in progress. It was later determined that the resident mistook his neighbors as intruders.
Fleeing car
- Police responded to a report of suspicious cars about 1 a.m. Sunday at the industrial building at 955 Weigel Drive. Officers saw a car speeding away.
Damage
- A resident in the 300 block of North Myrtle Avenue told police March 17 that she wanted a person who damaged her property during an argument to be served with a no-trespass notice. Officers gave the person the notice.
Shooting
- An officer was flagged down by a person bout 5 a.m. March 19 in the 200 block of North York Street. The person reported being shot at on westbound Interstate 290 by 25th Street during a road rage incident. The case was referred to the state police.
Check fraud
- The DuPage Water Commission, 600 E. Butterfield Road, told police Thursday that it sent a check through the post office, but the recipient never got it. The agency later discovered the check had been cashed and the recipient's name changed. An investigation is pending.
