Traffic Stop Leads to Two Warrant Arrests: Police

A passenger used a counterfeit bill at a store, police reported.

Elmhurst, IL — Police stopped a car at 1:53 a.m. July 4 at Willow and Melrose for violating a one-way street.

Police discovered one of the passengers, Irvin Dakota, 25 of the 900 block of Aurora Avenue in Aurora, had used a counterfeit bill at a store, according to Elmhurst police.

Dakota gave a fake name to police, and he was arrested and charged with possession of altered currency and obstruction. He was taken to DuPage County Jail on four warrants, police reported.

The driver was released on the scene after he was given tickets for violating a one-way street, having an expired driver's license and no insurance.

Another passenger, Magaly Sanchez, 21 of the 700 block of E Downers Place in Aurora, was also arrested for obstructing. She was taken to DuPage County Jail on six outstanding warrants, police reported.
