Volleyball Olympian Has Wheaton, Elmhurst Ties
Her team defeated the Dominican Republic this week and is headed to the semifinals.
ELMHURST, IL — West suburban native Kelsey Robinson is a member of the U.S. women's volleyball team in the Olympics in Tokyo. The team won the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Robinson, 29, was born in Elmhurst, counts Bartlett as her hometown and graduated from St. Francis High School in Wheaton, according to her profile on the U.S. team's website. She started playing indoor club volleyball when she was 10.
In 2014, Robinson graduated from the University of Nebraska. Outside the Olympics, she plays for a volleyball team in Turkey.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-2 outside hitter was part of the team that defeated the Dominican Republic 25-11, 25-20, 25-19. The U.S. team advanced to the semifinals.
Robinson maintains a personal website about her love for travel, food and leisure. She is engaged to professional beach volleyball player Brian Cook, who played at Stanford University.
