Woman Reports Animal Neglect When She Sees Dog Left in Freezing Weather

A woman reported to Elmhurst police on the afternoon of Dec. 5 that she had looked over a fence on the 400 block of Alma St. and saw a thin, sickly-looking dog. She said she didn’t think the dog was being cared for properly.

The woman said she thought it was too cold for the dog to be kept outdoors, and a neighbor took the dog inside.

The recorded temperature at the time was 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

A responding police officer later spoke with the dog’s owner, and the case is pending investigation.
