Wrong Key Sparks Elmhurst Dealership Confusion: Cops
In another case, an Elmhurst woman is out money after a warrant scam, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a confusion over keys, a fraudulent warrant, vandalism, theft, a domestic disturbance and a bitten delivery person. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Wrong key
- A woman told police that a suspect had left in her car about 9 a.m. Wednesday at McGrath Elmhurst Toyota. It turned out the dealership gave the wrong keys to the suspect for a loaner car. The suspect was contacted and returned the car.
Fraudulent warrant

- Someone called a resident in the 600 block of South Saylor Avenue and convinced her to transfer money for a fraudulent warrant. The theft was quickly reported after it happened Wednesday.
Vandalism
- A man was seen on a surveillance camera damaging a flower garden and a tree about 5:30 a.m. Monday at Vineyard Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Belden Ave. The man was described as 6 feet with an average build, 18 to 35, having a black goatee, and wearing a black shirt, silver necklace, black pants, black watch, black and white hat with a tan bill and black shoes.
Theft

- A man posing as the recipient of a package containing two iPhones stole it shortly before noon Aug. 7 at the UPS Store, 242 N. York St. The man was described as black with dreadlocks and wearing a white shirt and black pants.
Domestic disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3 p.m. Wednesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. The people admitted to arguing, but did not hurt each other. They were asked to separate for the night.
Delivery person bitten
- A woman told police she was bitten by a dog while delivering packages about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Richard Avenue.
