Lyons Township is a very strong program year in and year out placed 10th in State in 2012). Glenbard West and Downers Grove North will both be very solid teams this year. Coaches Comments:
We are very excited to have seven out of 11 players from last year’s varsity team coming back this season. Last year was the first year on Varsity for many of our players, and they were able to gain valuable experience playing against very good competition; that experience should help us as they return this season. We will have a very deep team up and down the lineup card. There will be great competition throughout the area and we will play a very competitive schedule.
Jonathon Elsey and Justin Loescher will be the captains of this year’s varsity team. They are both very hard workers and are both very positive influences for the rest of our team. They have been great leaders on and off the court throughout the school year and have been great advocates of the York Tennis Program.
Sophomores Alex Riddle and Brendan Peterson have worked extremely hard on their tennis games in the off-season, playing many tournaments around the area. Peterson is ranked 70th and Riddle is ranked 72nd in Chicago’s USTA 16 and under division. These two sophomores have put themselves in a good position to have a successful season.
Other contributors this year will be seniors Jackson Miller, Peter Dorizas, Jack Hamby, Bret Skeel, Connor Wing, and Steven Hams. Junior returners Liam Hagan and Austin Fite have a year of varsity experience under their belt. Fellow-juniors Adam Camp, Matt Molayal, and Daniel Jimenez along with sophomores Spencer Kost and Jacob Shostak will be very positive additions to the varsity squad as they had phenomenal seasons last year with the Frosh/Soph team. It should be a very exciting season!
