Evanston 8 Year Old Competes in Uncle Ben's Cooking Video Contest
Chef Logan is featured in the "Ben's Beginners Cooking Contest." If he wins, his Evanston school will get a $30,000 cafeteria makeover.
An Evanston boy wants to teach you how to make healthier choices with your meals. Logan Hagene is just 8 years old, but he’s already got the TV chef patter down like a pro. In fact, he’s so good he’s a national finalist in Uncle Ben’s “Ben’s Beginners Cooking Contest”.
He’s a student at District 65’s King Arts Lab School and he’s among the 25 finalists competing to win a $30,000 cafeteria makeover for his school and a $15,000 prize for his family. The contest, which Logan entered in October, is designed to help children learn to make healthier choices, at an early age, by getting them interested in cooking. Five hundred kids entered videos.
His video, featuring Logan and his dad, is titled “Logan’s Tofu and Flaxseed Uncle Ben’s Fried Rice.” To vote for Logan, visit the Uncle Ben’s website. Voting runs through Nov. 26. Grand prize winners will be announced in December.
