Day Trips for Fall Days
EP Office of Citizens's Services offers two unique day trips in October and December
The Evergreen Park Office of Citizens’ Services still has plenty of openings available for its two remaining day trips. This program of One and Multi-Day trips has been very popular over the years. “The trips are wonderful and inexpensive way for our adults and seniors to get out of the house for a day and enjoy a nice field trip with friends and new faces,” stated Beth Novotney, Director of the OCS.
The next offering is an excursion to Peter Patterson Glassworks in Mundelein on Wednesday, October 29. This educational and fun experience includes a tour of the studio, gallery and hot shop, as guests learn how art glass is made. Later, it’s off to Wauconda for lunch at Lindy’s Landing overlooking scenic Bangs Lake.
The “Adventures in Glassblowing” Trip costs only $110 per person, which includes the motorcoach ride, entrance to the exhibit and lunch. The bus departs the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street, at 8:00am. Registration Deadline is Friday, September 26.

A special Christmastime treat is in store on Thursday, December 4 with a trip to the spectacular Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills. Guests begin their day with an elegant lunch in the Estate’s Carousel Building, next to the world famous “Eden Palais” carousel. Following lunch, they will visit the mansion and be entertained by a ninety-minute Wurlitzer Organ Christmas Concert. The afternoon concludes with a self-guided exploration of the mansion, where docents will explain and demonstrate some of the world’s great collections of restored antique music machines.
The cost for the trip is $150, which again, is all-inclusive. The bus departs the Community Center at 10:30am, with arrival expected at 6:30pm. Registration Deadline is also Friday, September 26.
Payment for both trips is due at the time of registration, which can be done at the OCS Office in the Community Center.
The most recent trip was to Pullman National Monument on Thursday, August 14. A group of thirty-five sightseers enjoyed the fascinating history of one of Chicago's most historic neighborhoods. A lunch at the Harborside International Golf Center rounded out an exciting day.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm. More information can be obtained by calling (708) 422-8776. The OCS can also be found on Facebook at “EP Office of Citizen Services”.
