OCS Offers Overnight Trip To Springfield
"Two Days With Abe", a fun getaway not too far from home
Back by popular demand, the OCS is pleased to repeat a favorite two-day excursion down to the center of the Land of Lincoln. The getaway is part of the very popular Trips Program that the department delivers throughout the year.
The voyage to Springfield, Illinois takes off on the morning of Wednesday, June 25, with the deluxe motorcoach leaving the Evergreen Park Senior Center (9547 S. Homan Avenue). Along the way, guests will visit the Lincoln Heritage Museum in Lincoln, Illinois.
Upon arrival in Springfield, a tour of the amazing Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is next on the hit list, where guests can step inside key moments in Lincoln’s life from triumph to tragedy. The immersive displays in this state-of-the-art facility are truly fascinating.

A buffet dinner at Maldaner’s Restaurant in the Springfield Historic District is a delicious nightcap to a full day of sightseeing.
Guests will stay overnight at the Comfort Inn – Springfield, featuring an indoor pool and welcoming public areas, as well as a breakfast buffet for the morning of Thursday, June 26.

From there, the tour moves to the Illinois State Capitol Building, followed by a trip to the Abraham Lincoln Home and Historic District. This is the home where Lincoln lived from 1844 to 1861, leaving shortly before becoming the 16th president of the United States. He and his family intended to return after his presidency, but fate intervened.
Following lunch, the bus moves to Oak Ridge Cemetery, where guests can view the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Lincoln’s Tomb. Then, a long, restful ride back to Evergreen Park.
The amazing two-day trip runs $339 (per person, based on double occupancy) or $399 for a single. This includes transportation, the hotel, one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner. Included also is a professional Tour Director, hotel taxes and restaurant gratuities.
You can reserve your spot by visiting the OCS at the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street from Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. A deposit of $100 per person is required, or you can pay in full until the registration deadline of May 12. Checks should be made out to the Village of Evergreen Park.
