5K Coordinators Rally Frankfort Area Residents for Wounded Warriors
Register for an upcoming May race to support Operation Welcome You Home.

Looking for a way to break a sweat while supporting U.S. Military Veterans?
Registration is now open for the Operation Welcome You Home Wounded Warrior 5K, which is steps off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 from Plainfield North High School at 12005 S. 28th St. in Plainfield.
Operation Welcome You Home aims to ensure that the sacrifices made by our honorable veterans are never overlooked or forgotten. The organization is sponsoring the race and all proceeds will benefit local Wounded Warriors, according to the event website.

While the school parking lot holds about 1,000 cars, coordinators encourage participants to carpool. More than 1,200 registrants have participated in past races, they said.
Runners and walkers will be timed and awards will be distributed accordingly. Everyone who completes the 5K will receive finishing medals and swag bags, and is welcome to dine in the onsite food court following the race.

Those who register by April 30 are guaranteed a T-shirt, but registration will remain open until the day of the event.
