Black Water In Taps Issue Being Resolved: Frankfort Official
Discolored water observed by residents caused by sediment in water line, no danger to community.
FRANKFORT, IL — Residents in the Village of Frankfort and Frankfort Square communities reported on social media discolored or black water from their home taps earlier in the day Wednesday. The issue was caused by a company that was conducting a leak detection survey of the water lines, according to Village of Frankfort Director of Utilities Zachary Brown.
Sediment from a valve had entered the lines, causing the discoloration, Brown said.
However, hydrants are being flushed and the water is clearing up, Brown said. He added that there is no danger to the public because of this issue.
