Frankfort Arts Association To Open New Gallery Thursday
A ribbon cutting ceremony and open reception for FAA at Studio C in Frankfort is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Arts Association will open its new gallery Thursday, and it is inviting the public to come check out the space and see what FAA has in store for the spring.
Studio C, located at 130 Kansas St. #14B, will be open to the public during a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The ribbon cutting, hosted by the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The gallery will feature artwork from FAA artists. Its first exhibit is titled "Recently," and honors the remarkable times we are living in, new perspectives and things once taken for granted, according to information from FAA, a nonprofit organization.

In addition to the exhibit, FAA members and members of the public will be able to take part in featured classes and activities at Studio C throughout the spring, said FAA President Katie Stempniak. Some of those include intro to watercolor, drawing classes, monthly drum circles and Process Art Mondays, which lets middle and high school children meet and express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums, Stempniak said.
Thursday's event is a way for Frankfort residents to come out and meet local artists and "get to know the fabric of our community," Stempniak said.

Artwork on display will be available for purchase via a QR code that patrons can scan on their smartphone and buy directly from their phones, Stempniak said.
Studio C is being used as a gallery rent free courtesy of Todd and Cindy Morgan, who own the space and use it as an event venue on weekends, Stempniak said.
"This way — when there are baby showers, bridal showers, small corporate events, things like that — we'll be able to have so much more exposure for these artists," Stempniak said.
FAA is also currently featuring a Student Art Show with works on display at Frankfort Village Hall through March 24.
"I think all people of all ages and all backgrounds— we're really looking to tie in the diversity of what we have in our community," Stempniak said.
