Frankfort Board Approves Prairie Park Playground Improvements
The Village has received a $600,000 grant for the project.
FRANKFORT, IL — At its meeting on Monday, the Frankfort Village Board approved improvements for the Prairie Park playground and multi-use path.
The Village, with assistance from State Senator Michael Hastings, secured a $600,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the project.
The improvements include two projects, the construction of the renovated playground, and the resurfacing of a multi-use path.

Trustee Dan Rossi said the playground renovation is divided into four expenditures; $15,500 for design and construction engineering, $131,529.20 for playground equipment, $104,713.50 for a rubberized safety surface, and $196,155.72 for playground installation and related site work.
The costs total $447,898.42.

According to Board documents, the Village has partnered with Design Perspectives for the playground, and with Robinson Engineering for the multi-use path portion's design and construction engineering.
"The remaining $152,101.58 from the grant will fund the resurfacing of the multi-use path, which is currently in the design phase, with bidding expected in September and construction anticipated to begin in October," Rossi said.
