Frankfort To Host Lead Service Line Open House
The Village Utilities Department will hold two open houses July 29 and July 31.
FRANKFORT, IL — The Utilities Department of the Village of Frankfort has scheduled two informational public open houses regarding the upcoming Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The dates and times for the open house are 5-7 p.m. July 29 and 9-11 a.m. July 31. Both open houses will be held at Village Hall, 432 W. Nebraska St.
The Village of Frankfort was recently awarded a $1.84M, 100 percent forgivable loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to replace lead water service lines within the community. A service line is the small pipe that delivers water from the water main in the streetto homes or businesses .
As part of this project, residents who have a lead water service line can have it replaced from the water main in the street to the water meter located at a home or business.

Construction is expected to commence in August 2021 and conclude by the end of 2022.

Participation in this program is voluntary but is encouraged by the Village. This work has an approximate value of $9,000 per service line and will be provided at no cost to the Village or to the property owner.
