Frankfort Park District Could Drop Masking Requirement Monday

Preschool and early childhood programs would be mask "recommended" if Gov. J.B. Pritzker's executive order is lifted Monday.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Park District announced Thursday on its website that preschool and early childhood programs offered through the Park District would shift to mask "recommended" if Gov. J.B. Pritzker's executive order regarding requirements for masking indoors is lifted as expected Monday, according to the Park District.

The Park District made the announcement Thursday on its website. In the announcement, the Park District said that it had been following the governor's executive order that requires all people ages 2 and older to wear masks while in public indoor spaces.

There are, however, some caveats for the Park District to implement the shift the mask recommended policy.

The Park District wrote:

"If the Governor lifts the mask mandates for public indoor spaces, as he said he would, and there is no specific language that would mandate masks for preschools or early childhood programming, beginning February 28, masks will not be required for all Frankfort Park District programming. Masks will be "Recommended" for preschool and early childhood programs, and are welcomed for all program participants but are NOT required for Park District programs including preschool."

The Park District went on to ask that "everyone please honor and respect the choices people make about masking."
