Frankfort Square Community Garage Sale Planned For May
A Frankfort Square resident is organizing the event and putting together a list for those interested in participating.
FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort Square bargain-hunters can start looking forward to a community garage sale in May, thanks to the efforts of one of its residents.
The community-wide garage sale is being organized by Frankfort Square resident Nicole Kuech. She is carrying on the tradition from a former Frankfort Square resident who recently moved out of the area.
"In the past (pre-covid) we have always had a community garage sale," Kuech said. "The person who actually ran it was a community member who organized addresses and submitted them to the [Frankfort Square] Park district for posting... This community member has since moved and there was no one to take her place."

Kuech began reaching out March 16 to fellow Frankfort Square residents on the "Frankfort Square Community" Facebook page to see if there was any interest in holding the community garage sale. Neighbors started to respond, and soon after Kuech set the dates for the event for May 14-15.
About 28 homes in Frankfort Square have already signed up to be part of the event, Kuech said. She is now in the process of organizing the community garage sale into specific locations so that people won't have to double back through the neighborhood to find the best deals on a wide range of garage sale gems.

Kuech is asking those who are interested in participating to send her names and addresses so she can add them to the list. She said the best way to reach her is through a private message on Facebook. Her profile can be found by following this link.
The deadline for submissions is April 15.
"There is no cost to participate, and if anything, it's just a chance to get out and meet some neighbors and walk the neighborhood a bit," Kuech said.
The final list of participating homes will be posted at the Frankfort Square Park District and on the "Frankfort Square Community" Facebook page, Kuech said.
"We have a very nice community, and the last 2 years have been so difficult on so many," Kuech said. "Maybe this is the fresh start to the new year that we need."
