Frankfort Township Enacts Snow Parking Ban

The new ordinance limits parking on township streets after a snowfall of 2 inches or more.

FRANKFORT, IL — A new ordinance will limit street parking on Frankfort Township streets after a snowfall that results in two or more inches of accumulation. The township notified homeowners about the new parking rules in a letter Wednesday. The regulation was enacted in order to make it easier for crews to remove snow from township streets.

Under the ordinance, vehicles parked on affected streets after a qualifying snowfall can be ticketed and towed so snow removal crews can go through, the township letter stated. Vehicle owners will be responsible for any fines and tickets, as well as towing and storage fees.

The following township streets fall under the new ordinance:

  • Lakeside and Benton drives
  • Farmbrook Terrace 1 and 2: Cobblestone Court, Dove Lane, Grand Prairie Lane, Green Meadow Lane, Haystack Drive, Hunter Drive., Ivy Path, Pebble Lane, Quail Circle, Silo Drive, WhiteFence Court, Windmill Drive, Wishing Well Drive
  • Hawthorne Lakes: Rainford Drive, Pecan Place, Chestnut Court, Auburn Lane
  • White Oak Estates: Rosebury Drive, Duane Drive, 82nd Avenue, Newberry Avenue
  • Rainford Farms: Countryside Lane, Old Mill Road, Ryeland Drive, Parkside Drive, Brickstone Drive, Timbermill Drive, Farmhouse Road, Wheatfield Drive, Harvest Drive, Countryside Court

"The residents of Frankfort Township are asked to be patient and recognize that during the
winter months there may be some minor inconveniences," the township's letter stated. "Snow removal procedures have been implemented to ensure a safe and expedient flow of traffic, and to increase the efficiency of the Township’s Snow Removal Team. We ask for everyone’s cooperation to help keep our streets
safe."
