Frankfort Winter Weather: Snow Ordinances, Parking
More winter weather is on the way later this week.
FRANKFORT, IL — With one winter storm already this week, the Village of Frankfort is reminding residents about parking ordinances and other winter weather reminders.
In the Village, parking is prohibited on local roads when 2 inches of snowfall has happened. This is to allow public works to remove snow and ice from the roads.
Village ordinance also prohibits placing snow or ice onto the public way.

An active winter weather pattern will remain in place through the end of the week and beyond, according to the National Weather Service. Another storm system, with possibly heavy snow and strong winds, could impact the area late Thursday into Saturday.
The Village also advised shoveling out any fire hydrants on your property, and warning children about the hazards of digging tunnels in snow piles, especially along the road.

Several inches of snow have already fallen with the winter storm on Tuesday. Here's a look at some snowfall totals around Frankfort, per NWS:
- Plainfield, 3.6 inches
- Homer Glen, 3.5 inches
- New Lenox, 3.2 inches
- Peotone, 2.9 inches
- Naperville, 2.5 inches
- Mokena, 2.4 inches
- Rockdale, 2.1 inches
