FRANKFORT, IL — After 20 years, Kernel Sweetooth will be closing its Frankfort store at 10 Elwood St., the business announced on its Facebook page.
"Due to a 30 percent rent increase and a desire to step away from the day-to-day operation of our business, we will be closing our Frankfort store," the business said on Facebook. "We will continue to do local outdoor events, craft shows, farmer’s markets, and festivals. We also will accept cookie and popcorn orders. Send us a message through Facebook and we will fill your order."
The store's last day will be Dec. 29. From Dec. 26-Dec. 29, all candy and cookies are half-price, and there will be $1 ice cream cones, according to the business. Tin refills and gift certificates will also be honored during this time.
