L-W East Vs. St. Charles East: 3 Videos To Fire You Up On Gameday

If Lincoln-Way East High School was intimidated by its No. 1 state ranking, the Griffins certainly didn't let it show in the first round of the IHSA Class 8A football playoffs last week. The undefeated squad (10-0) rolled by Joliet West, 44-0, on Oct. 27 and now goes on the road to face No. 17 St. Charles East (8-2). The game is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Norris Stadium in St. Charles.

The confidence gained following such a lopsided victory, however, can quickly turn to overconfidence, making a dominant team its own worst opponent. In fact, L-W East head coach Rob Zvonar and his staff have probably addressed that potential pitfall with players as they prepared for Saturday's game. One easy way to ensure everyone comes back down to earth is to remind them of the 11 times the Griffins were penalized for a total of 100 yards, infractions that helped to keep them off the scoreboard until the middle of the second quarter.

But if L-W East players need to keep themselves from becoming too cocky, how do L-W East fans stop themselves from becoming too complacent with this talented team? The Griffins's current winning ways might have spoiled the savviest of supporters, who could be forgiven for thinking victories are expected instead of earned. It's easy to see why that's the case when L-W East's suffocating defense held Joliet West to 18 total yards of offense — including -40 rushing yards — never letting the Tigers cross midfield last week. So how can the L-W East faithful get fired up for round two of the playoffs?

Hold a mini pep rally, of course. And the best way to do that is by inviting fellow fans to gather around a laptop or tablet and letting these three highlight videos pump you up before Saturday's game.
