Man Charged After Barricade Incident At 'Uninhabitable' Frankfort Home

Two pets were later removed from the home due to hazardous living conditions, authorities said.

FRANKFORT, IL — A man is facing charges after police said he assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute in their Frankfort home.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Will County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 7200 block of West Matthews Drive.

When deputies arrived, authorities said they were unable to make contact with the home's residents. Concerned for their safety, deputies forced their way into the home through a barricaded door.

Deputies found two residents inside the home. A 30-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery and unlawful restraint. Formal charges are pending.

The man and a 31-year-old female victim were taken to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.

During the investigation, authorities discovered hazardous living conditions within the home, prompting Will County Land Use officials to deem the residence uninhabitable.

Will County Animal Control responded to the scene and removed two pets from the property for their safety and care, authorities said.
