More Security At Summit Hill School After Graffiti About Shooting
District 161 officials have tightened "routine practices" since discovering the threat in a school bathroom, Supt. Barb Rains said.

FRANKFORT, IL — Summit Hill School District 161 is increasing security at one of its school after two instances of threatening graffiti was recently discovered, according to school system officials. The most recent piece of graffiti found last week was written in a bathroom at Summit Hill Junior High School, and it contained a threat of a shooting at the school, authorities say.
"We are tightening up routine practices and have installed an additional camera within a school hallway," said District 161 Supt. Barb Rains when asked about additional security measures at Summit Hill Junior High School.
A school janitor discovered the school shooting-graffiti Thursday, April 19, and Will County sheriff's deputies canvased the building and the campus but found nothing. An added police presence remained at the school Thursday and Friday, however.

No arrests have been made in the case, and Will County sheriff's detectives are investigating. No other threatening graffiti has been found at other District 161 schools, Rains said.
"We are asking parents to have a conversation with their child to see if they may be aware of information regarding this investigation to share with them and school staff members," she said.
