No Injuries In Frankfort Attic Fire

Firefighters answered a call for help with fireplace flue. They put out an attic fire instead.

FRANKFORT, IL —Frankfort firefighters extinguished an attic fire Thursday morning after responding to what they thought was a call to help a homeowner with a fireplace flue. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said they arrived to the house on the 300 block of Ohio Road just before 10:30 a.m., and while they were there, spotted light smoke coming from the eaves of the roof.

They realized there was a fire in the attic, and crews worked to expose the heat of the fire.

After they did, firefighters were able to put out the blaze in minutes.

Mokena, New Lenox, East Joliet, and Orland fire protection districts assisted on the scene, along with other help from the Tinley Park and University Park fire departments. The Village of Frankfort Police and Public Works also assisted.
