Ruse Burglaries Reported In Eastern Will County: Sheriff

WILL COUNTY, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a recent uptick in ruse burglaries in the eastern part of Will County, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

These crimes typically involve at least two individuals who attempt to enter a home under false pretenses, the sheriff's office said. In a typical scenario, one suspect engages the homeowner in conversation, often posing as a utility worker, contractor or official, while a second suspect gains entry to the home through another door or an unlocked entrance.

The most recent incidents happened in the Plum Valley and Willow Brook Estates subdivisions in Crete Township, the sheriff's office said. Two suspects were observed using walkie-talkies to communicate and are believed to have been driving a black Chevy SUV with black rims. Security cameras captured one person of interest from a recent incident, who is pictured above.
