Kennedy Steps Down as Clerk, Joins Rank of Trustees
Frankfort municipal officials got a facelift this week with a new clerk and a new trustee.
Frankfort's Village Clerk, Robert Kennedy, resigned his position Monday only to take up another in municipal leadership. He was appointed a trustee, filling the vacancy leftover by Kevin Egan.
Sitting as clerk in Kennedy's former chair is Keith Ogle, the current president of the Frankfort Public Library District.
Kennedy and Ogle were officially sworn in at the regular board meeting on July 22.
In June, Egan resigned from his role as trustee. He's moving to Minnesota.
Kennedy, who will be filling the remaining two years of Egan's term, has served as Village Clerk since 2008. The current president of the Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210 Foundation, Kennedy is the senior vice president at Old Second National Bank. His years of commitment to the community also includes past leadership roles on the Frankfort Preservation Foundation, Yankee Ridge Home Owners Association and the Frankfort Fall Fest.
Kennedy said he expects his combination of experiences, professionally and in a volunteer capacity, will work to contribute to his new role as trustee. "I felt after five years (as clerk,) I'm no longer a freshman. I felt I was read to graduate.
"I feel totally honored I was chosen."
New Village Clerk has leadership history
Ogle, who has served on the Village's Departmental Operations Committee since 2007, said he's ready for the challenge. "I'm very interested in the workings of government.
"I enjoy the challenge," he said.
All total 12 Frankfort residents threw their hats in the ring to serve out the remainder of Egan's term. Mayor Jim Holland said he was pleased with the response from community members, willing to volunteer their time to serve the village.
"There were a significant number of people who sent in resumes. I was even more pleased that all 12 of the people had very good reasons for wanting serve. I had a sense that each wanted to make our community a little bit better."
