WILL COUNTY, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Merit Commission is now accepting applications for deputy sheriff. Applications must be downloaded from the Sheriff's website.

Starting salary is $69,541 with benefits and uniforms.

Applications must have official sealed college transcripts or be sent electronically directly from the college or Military DD214/DD215, and the non-refundable processing fee attached. Application materials can be mailed or hand delivered to the Will County Merit Commission office at:

Requirements include:

  • at least 21 Years of Age
  • Must establish residency in Will County within 2 years from date of appointment.
  • Associate's Degree or minimum 60 semester hours
  • Two (2) years of active duty service in a branch of the United States Military or Eighteen (18) months of active duty service in the a branch of the United States Military in a designated combat zone.
  • A minimum of four (4) years full-time continuous law enforcement (Police/Deputy) on the same department (must supply related information).
  • A minimum of four (4) years continuous employment with the Will County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer AND 30 hours of regionally accredited college credits.
  • No felony or certain misdemeanor convictions from any jurisdiction
