3rd Water Main Breaks Within 24 Hours In Geneva: City
Most of the recent water main breaks stem from large temperature swings, city officials said.
GENEVA, IL — The Geneva Public Works Department is responding Monday morning to the third water main to break in the past 24 hours.
Crews are working to fix the break, which occurred at 537 E. State St. late Sunday night when the problem was isolated until the problem could be fixed Monday morning.
East State Street has been down to one lane in each direction from Harrison to Woodlawn streets since 9 a.m. Westbound lanes, which are both closed, were pushed into what is normally the interior eastbound lane.

Most of the recent water main breaks stem from large temperature swings, city officials said. The changes have caused the ground to shift and damage underground utilities.
“The City believes all customers in the water main break areas still have active water service,” officials said in a news release.
Water main breaks that happen after hours, on weekends or on holidays can be reported to the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the appropriate staff to investigate.
