5 Private, 3 Public Gardens Featured in Geneva Garden Walk

The garden walk will be held this weekend.

The biennial Geneva Garden Walk will take place this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The walk will feature five private and 3 public gardens, each one showcasing a different “variety” of gardening. The Geneva Garden Club is also very excited to announce the Special Guest Speaker, Roy Diblik, of Northwind Perennial Farm, who will be a presenter on Saturday at the Geneva City Hall Garden, which he designed.

Diblik is a recognized perennial plant expert, grower, designer, speaker and author. Combining his 35 years of knowledge growing traditional and Midwest native perennials, he specializes in highly aesthetic, sustainable plant communities for all seasons, while reducing maintenance through design, according to information on the garden club's website.

He believes that gardens should be thoughtful, ecologically directed, emotionally outreaching and yet very personal. Roy is co-owner of Northwind Perennial Farm located in Burlington, Wisconsin. His design and planting projects include the Louis Sullivan Arch Garden for the Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago and the lakeside plantings for the new Oceanarium at the Shedd Aquarium.

Visitors can tour the gardens in any order they choose. It will probably take most of the day to see all eight gardens. Visitors can divide the garden tours between both days if they choose.
