GENEVA, IL — A new coffee shop is opening in downtown Geneva just in time for Christmas gatherings.

Storybook Cafe took over 407 S. Third St., a space formerly occupied by Cafe and Barr, which closed in April 2023.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the business Thursday ahead of the shop's official grand opening Dec. 21.

Owners Nighum Abbas and Sara Vora cut the ribbon, held by their husbands, Wahaj Khan and Omar Dhorajjwala. Mayor Kevin Burns attended the event, along with owners' families and friends and Geneva Chamber staff and ambassadors.

At Storybook Cafe, the owners intend to craft "exceptional experiences in every cup and bite," according to the Geneva Chamber. Matcha is sourced from Japan, and select coffee beans come from sustainable, fair-trade farms. Artisan pastries, baked fresh daily, will also be on the menu.

"They believe great coffee and tea should be both exceptional and ethical," Chamber officials said.
