$5M In Grants To Help Kane County Businesses Cope With Pandemic
Kane County businesses can apply for a grant of up to $25,000 to help offset coronavirus-related expenses.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County officials have opened a second round of funding to distribute an additional $5 million in federal coronavirus relief to businesses.
Business owners can apply for grants of up to $25,000 each, with the grants meant to cover expenses incurred due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kane County Board members set aside about $8 million for business grants during a first round of funding earlier this year, but the fund still had money left over after all applications were processed.
During the second round of funding, Kane County businesses can apply for a grant of up to $25,000 if they can show they lost income due to coronavirus-related restrictions and are in good standing.

Funding will not be made available to private clubs, religious institutions or businesses engaged in pyramid sales or illegal activities.

Officials are hoping to streamline the application and review process to get the new grants out to businesses quicker than during the first round, which took about six months, the Daily Herald reports.
Officials did not set an application deadline as the county must distribute all of its federal funding before the end of the year or send back any money it hasn’t spent.

The county received $92.9 million in federal funding from the more than $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. Officials allocated about $51 million to help the county cover its own pandemic-related expenses, while municipalities and unincorporated areas will share tens of millions of dollars.
Kane County nonprofits are set to split about $3 million in federal funding. Hesed House, the Aurora homeless shelter that is the largest in the county, is set to receive about $800,000 after the county board increased its nonprofit funding pool.
St. Charles Nears 3,000-Case Milestone As Coronavirus Surges
The Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva is set to receive $365,000, while the Association of Individual Development will receive $348,000, the report states. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is line to get a grant worth $174,000, while PADS of Elgin is expected to get $116,000, the Daily Herald reported.
