General Motors wants to honor local heroes in Illinois who are contributing to their communities through the launch of its new Our Town, Our Heroes program. From the first responder on the scene, to the coach who mentors local youth, to the soldier who is serving his country, to the local mom who organized a neighborhood clothing drive, General Motors will recognize two local heroes each month and will challenge them to continue to empower others to drive positive change.
Through December, Illinois residents can log on to DrivingtheMidwest.com and nominate those who inspire them and make a difference in their communities. Five finalists will be chosen every two weeks, and the public can log on and vote for their favorite hero. The hero, and the person who nominated him or her, will each receive the use for one week of a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle, complete with a full tank of gas.
