Niedfeldt has never sold a winning ticket worth so much—he hopes the winner is a Batavia resident, the Chronicle's story said.

Players with winning tickets of a $1 million prize or more have to call the lottery’s claim office at 217-524-5147 to redeem their prizes. Also, don’t forget to sign the back of your ticket!

This is the second 7-Eleven location in Batavia in exactly nine months to produce a winning Lotto ticket worth millions. On March 17, a ticket sold at the 710 E. Fabyan Parkway 7-Eleven matched all six numbers of the regular Lotto drawing.

The before-taxes prize was $3 million, and it went to a Batavia resident named James. He planned to use the money to pay for his medical bills after a health scare left him hospitalized during fall 2011.

Illinois schools get almost $623 million every year in Lottery revenue, according to the Illinois Lottery website. That amount is about 9.6 percent of the state’s annual contribution to public K-12 schools.
