ComEd To Trim Trees In Geneva This Month

Trimming operations will take place mostly east of the Fox River in Geneva, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — ComEd is planning to trim trees in Geneva starting in mid-February, city officials said.

Tree trimming operations will occur into early March, depending on weather, predominantly east of the Fox River in Geneva. The following areas are scheduled for maintenance:

  • Kirk Road north of Fabyan Parkway and mostly north of State Street
  • Geneva Business Park
  • Kautz Road
  • Route 38 east of Kirk Road
  • Various sections of Fabyan Parkway
  • East of Heather Road in between Redwing Drive and Considine Road

Trimming helps ensure electrical reliability since tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages, city officials said.

The City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, but ComEd power lines also feed city substations. Geneva interconnects with the company to allow the city to receive energy purchased from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.

ComEd will notify residents about operations taking place in their neighborhoods.
