Geneva Cooling Centers Activated Amid Excessive Heat
The hottest air of the summer is expected over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service.
GENEVA, IL — As excessive temperatures hit northern Illinois to start the week, Geneva is activating its cooling centers Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The hottest air of the summer is expected over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, and an excessive heat watch is issued for Tuesday afternoon and evening in Kane County.
The weather service said heat index values of 105 to 109 are expected Monday in the area, and 110 to 115 is possible on Tuesday.

There is also a severe weather threat on Tuesday, with about a 20 to 30 percent chance for storms, according to the weather service.

Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St.
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
Geneva Public Works Facility, 1800 South St.
- Hours: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
Geneva Fire Department Headquarters, 200 East Side Drive
- Hours: 24/7, but no sleeping facilities
Geneva Police Department, 20 Police Plaza
- Hours: 24/7, but no sleeping facilities
Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St.
- Hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday
