Geneva Earth Day Celebration: Recycling, Free Shredding Event

GENEVA, IL — Geneva is celebrating the environment with a recycling and shredding event on Earth Day.
The event, sponsored by Geneva's Natural Resources Committee and the Geneva Park District, will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 19 at Peck Farm Park, 4038 Kaneville Road.
The festivities will feature food vendors, chalk art, giveaways and a self-guided prairie tour.

Participants will also have the opportunity to plant native prairie plants at Peck Farm Park. Those interested are required to register in advance through the Geneva Park District.
While the event the majority of the event is free, including to shred and recycle, it will cost to recycle televisions and computer monitors — $25 for 21 inches or less and $35 for 22 inches or greater.

Flat Can Recycling will also be at the event to take household items for a fee, including latex paint cans, batteries, aerosol products, CO2 and smoke detectors, and car seats.
