Geneva Officials Pay Tribute To Longtime Crossing Guard

Cynthia (Cindy) Naughton died on Jan. 24. She served as a crossing guard in the city for 23 years.

GENEVA, IL -- The city of Geneva flag at city hall has been lowered in memory of a longtime crossing. Cynthia (Cindy) Naughton helped keep children safe for 23 years as she worked as a school crossing guard between 1994 and 2017 in Geneva, city officials said. Naughton, 63, died on Jan. 24 in her home in Geneva, according to a news release.

Her funeral was held last week.

A moment of silence in memory of Naughton will be held during the beginning of the Feb. 4 Geneva City Council meeting, according to city officials. The city’s flag will remain lowered through the morning of Feb. 5.
