Geneva Public Works Handles Nov. Snowstorm
Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations Monday, city officials said.

City of Geneva: After a Winter Weather Advisory was declared Nov. 10, Geneva’s snowplow team was ready and mobilized starting at 4 a.m. to battle an early Veterans Day snowstorm.Forecasts called for 2 to 5 inches of snow for Kane County, but those accumulations will likely apply to grassy surfaces with warmer pavement temperatures. As of 6:15 a.m. Nov. 11, there was about 1 inch of snow on the pavement. At this time, the City is not enacted its snow parking ban. However, residents should pay attention to the City’s website for any future announcements changes if weather conditions continue to deteriorate.
The National Weather Service’s Winter Weather Advisory calls for snow to continue to fall to about noon Nov. 11. The City appreciates residents who voluntarily move their parked cars off the street, which will help snow plowing operations move more efficiently.Public Works crews have been plowing main arterial roads, which should be in decent shape for the morning rush hour. Residential streets may be slick this morning with snow removal efforts expected to start around 7:30 a.m.The City’s curbside leaf program is continuing Nov. 11 but will be impacted by the snowstorm. Kramer Tree Specialists are finishing up the first round pickup in Zone A (east side) and are transitioning to second round collections for the west side.
