Geneva Snow Updates: Garbage Collection Suspended, Plowing Continues
Highways and main arterial roads in Geneva are in "relatively good condition" given the snowstorm, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — The first wave of snow ended Friday morning in Geneva, and officials said highways and main arterial roads are in "relatively good condition" given the weather.
Garbage collection began at 6 a.m. to get ahead of the forecast snow but was later suspended. In an update Friday afternoon, city officials said LRS decided to continue pickup on Saturday.
While some residents did have their garbage picked up, those who didn't should put their bins away until a new schedule is determined, officials said.

Geneva Public Works Department crews are currently plowing residential neighborhoods. The operation is expected to be finished by mid-afternoon, just in time for the second wave of the weather system to arrive, officials said. Crews are also working to clear public parking lots and sidewalks downtown.
City officials warned that travel conditions, while better now, are expected to deteriorate during the evening rush hour, and blowing snow may reduce visibility.
