Lighting Strikes Geneva Electrical Equipment, Causes Power Outage
More than 1,350 residents lost power during Monday night's storm, city officials said.
GENEVA, IL — More than 1,350 Geneva Electric Department customers lost power Monday night after lighting struck electrical equipment, city officials said Tuesday.
The outage was reported at 7:57 p.m. in the Fisher Farms subdivision on Geneva's West Side. Geneva Public Works crews responded and closed an electric switch to restore service by 9:10 p.m.
Officials reminded residents that the best way to report after-hour, weekend or holiday power outages is to call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency line at 630-232-4736. Officers will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works staff to investigate.
