Mosquito Spraying Planned After Kane County Surveillance Batch Confirmed West Nile Virus-Positive: Geneva

A mosquito surveillance trap in the area tested positive for West Nile virus, Geneva officials said.

GENEVA, IL — Spraying is planned this week in Geneva after a mosquito surveillance trap in the area tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the city.

Clarke was contracted by the city to spray a mosquito control application citywide from dusk Thursday to dawn Friday. Neighboring towns are also spraying this week, officials said.

Clarke will be using a synthetic treatment that is safe for humans and pets, though people with asthma and other respiratory conditions are encouraged to stay indoors with windows closed during the misting and for one hour after.
