New Restaurant Serving Innovative Mexican Fare Opens At Geneva Commons

GENEVA, IL — Geneva Commons is home to a new restaurant serving innovative Mexican cuisine and inventive cocktails.

Officially opened Feb. 5, Hacienda Real Flavors of Mexico has begun its operations with a "soft opening" phase, welcoming customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The restaurant is expected to begin accepting reservations in a few weeks, mall executives said.

The Geneva Commons location, next door to Corner Bakery and Sola Salon Studios, is the second Hacienda Real in the Chicagoland area — its sister space is in Yorkville, off North Bridge Street.

The restaurant is the latest concept from family-owned company Arechiga Restaurant Group, which operates four different brands, including Salsa Verde restaurants, in the western suburbs of Chicago and the Indianapolis area.

Hacienda Real serves seasonally rotating dishes in a contemporary space, all with the "promise to transport guests to a coastal paradise," according to mall executives.

The extensive menu offers everything from quesadillas, tacos and fajitas to house specials, including molcajete — a lava rock filled with grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo and toppings — and cochinita pibil, a slow-cooked pork over banana leaves.

Hacienda Real is located at 1602 Commons Drive, Suite 600, in Geneva.
