Orders Open For Fall Parkway Tree Planting In Geneva
A second round of parkway tree planting will also be underway the week of June 10 in the city.
GENEVA, IL — Residents wanting a parkway tree have until the end of August to order one through the city.
City staff will purchase trees at a discounted rate through a contract with West Suburban Tree Consortium. Through the cost-sharing program, locals pay $150 for the tree, and the city will cover the remaining share, which is more than $150, according to officials.
Residents can choose between several options of trees — including hybrid elm, European hornbeam, ivory silk Japanese tree lilac and ginkgo — for their parkway, which is part of the city's right-of-way usually located between the sidewalk or property line and curb.
