Penrose Brewing Clinches 4 Medals In Hard Seltzer Championship
This year, almost 70 hard seltzer brewers from across the country entered a record. 251 beverages in the competition.

GENEVA, IL — Penrose Brewing took home four medals in the U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championship.
The Geneva brewery won all four awards for its Seltz-Up hard seltzers:
- Lemon/Lemonade: Lemon Seltz-Up — Gold Medal
- Flavored Lemonade: Pink Lemon Seltz-Up — Gold Medal
- Flavored Lemonade: Blackberry Lemon Seltz-Up — Bronze Medal
- Anything Goes: Lemon Tea-Up — Gold Medal
It wasn't the first time Lemon Seltz-Up won an accreditation. In July, it also took home a gold medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute.

At the competition, held in Oxford, Ohio, seltzers are evaluated based on their quality, taste and innovation. The U.S. Open Championship teams up with the Niagara College Teaching Winery And Teaching Brewery to judge submissions.

"We are thrilled and honored to have received these prestigious medals at the 2023 U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championship," Tom Korder, co-founder and head brewer at Penrose Brewing, said in a statement. "The continued recognition for the Seltz-Up series is a testament to our team and the same effort we put into our beer offerings, we have intentionally put forth in these as well."
Lemon Seltz-Up, Blackberry Lemon Seltz-Up and Lemon Tea-Up are available for purchase as four-pack cans at the taproom, 509 Stevens St.
