St. Charles Police Officer to Jump Into Freezing Water
Officer Adam Stander will participate in the Lake Bluff Polar Plunge on March 7.

St. Charles Police Officer Adam Stander will brave the freezing temperatures of Lake Michigan March 7 for the Lake Bluff Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Illinois.
This is the fifth year Officer Stander has taken part in this fundraising effort. The event is held at Sunset Beach in Lake Bluff and is one of about 20 held throughout the state to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois.
“Seeing the athletes there and knowing they get up every day thinking about their sport and competing, that keeps me coming back each year, Stander said in a written release. “Without the funds these events raise, the athletes wouldn’t have these opportunities.”
In the last six years through various fundraising events, the St. Charles Police Department has raised $120,000 for Special Olympics.
“It’s not as cold as you think,” Officer Stander said to encourage others to participate in the Polar Plunge. “Just ignore the giant chunks of ice.”
