State Street Lanes In Geneva Close Again For Water Main Break Fix
Crews are back on State Street Tuesday morning to finish repairing a water main break that originally occurred Monday morning.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva Public Works Department crews are back on State Street Tuesday morning to repair a water main that broke around 8:15 a.m. Monday.
Starting at 9 a.m., traffic was shut down to one lane in each direction on State Street. Both westbound lanes are shut down from Pine Street to Maple Lane, shifting traffic to the interior eastbound lane.
Eastbound drivers, as a result, are limited to the outside curb lane from Syril Drive to Pine Street.

The water main break occurred a day ago, and crews isolated the problem as a temporary fix so they could address a separate water main break on East State and Harrison streets.
The West State Street water main is expected to be repaired in the afternoon before the evening rush hour, according to an alert.

It's one of three water main breaks that occurred since early Monday morning. City officials cited large temperature swings as the reason for the breaks, as the fluctuations cause the ground to shift and damage underground utilities.
