State Street Water Main Breaks: Fix Caused New Break In Same Area

Geneva Public Works crews are back on State Street for the third day to take care of a new water main break, requiring street closures.

GENEVA, IL — Crews from the Geneva Public Works Department are back on West State Street for the third consecutive day to fix a new water main break that happened when another one was fixed, officials said.

The water main break occurred near Maple Lane, officials said in an alert at 9:10 a.m. When crews turned the water back on after making repairs to an initial break on Tuesday, the pressure caused a subsequent break in the same general area.

As a result, traffic on State Street will be down to one lane in each direction from Charles to Pine streets. Westbound cars will again be shifted to the interior eastbound lane, and eastbound drivers will be limited to the outside curb lane.
