Street Closures Revealed For Oh La La Chocolate Run In Geneva

"Just like chocolate, there is a run for everyone's taste," organizers said of the event featuring a half-marathon, 5K, 10K and mile walk.

GENEVA, IL — Runners will take to downtown Geneva Nov. 2 to compete in the half-marathon, 10K and 5K races. In preparation for the event, the Geneva Police Department shared which roads will be closed.

The 11th annual Oh La La races will have staggered starts from the Kane County Courthouse, located at 100 S. Third St. The half-marathon will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the 10K at 7:15 a.m., then the 5K at 7:30 a.m., and ending with the one-mile walk at 7:40 a.m.

Parking will be prohibited on portions of the following downtown streets beginning after midnight Nov. 2, before they fully close to traffic at 4 a.m., officials said.

  • Third Street from James to Franklin streets
  • Campbell Street from River Lane to Second Street, and from Fifth to Sixth streets
  • Franklin Street from Second to Sixth streets
  • Second, Fifth and Sixth streets from Campbell to Franklin streets
  • River Lane from Campbell to South streets

Route 31 will remain open, but traffic will be periodically stopped at the intersection with Campbell Street to allow runners to cross the state highway. A detour route will direct drivers around the course using James, Seventh, Fulton and Third streets.

Officers will be in the area helping with traffic control, but officials are urging drivers to use caution when driving through the area due to the large crowd anticipated to attend and participate in the races.

All streets are expected to reopen at 11 a.m.

Registration for the races will be open until 6:50 a.m. Nov. 2. Through Nov. 1, entry costs $51.49, and it will increase to $56.99 on the day of the race. Proceeds will benefit the Step by Step Running Club.
