GENEVA, IL — As another round of snow is expected to hit, Geneva residents should prepare for an overnight parking ban.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch ahead of a Friday snowstorm with potential blizzard conditions. Heavy and blowing snow is possible, and accumulations could be greater than 6 inches, with wind gusts as high as 50 mph, according to the weather service.

As a result, Geneva's winter parking ban will begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday. Locals should move parked cars off the road to avoid being ticketed or towed.

The lack of cars on the street will allow Geneva Public Works Department crews to plow streets more efficiently.

The city's refuse collector, LRS, will also begin routes early on Friday to get ahead of the forecast snow. Residents with Friday collection should set their bins out Thursday night, officials said.
