• New youth emergency shelter created by Caritas Family Solutions supports children in crisis (ibjonline.com) — Families in Glen Carbon should know that Caritas Family Solutions, which has a local office, now runs a Youth Emergency Shelter offering 24/7 care for children in crisis. The program provides short-term housing, counseling, education support, and trauma-informed care for kids who’ve lost foster placements. It’s part of a broader network serving more than 5,200 people across southern Illinois each year. 
• Reach the Riverbend: Local Volunteer Opportunities (riverbender.com) — If you’re in or near Glen Carbon, you can plug into local service by volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, based right in town. They’re among dozens of Riverbend-area nonprofits seeking help, from food pantries and senior services to animal rescues and environmental groups.
