• County voters will be asked to approve tax credit referendum in 2026 (timestribunenews.com) — Madison County voters, including those in Glen Carbon, will see a March 17, 2026 advisory referendum on whether Illinois should join a federal tax-credit program supporting K–12 educational expenses. Glen Carbon’s Jason Palmero chairs the county committee that advanced the measure, which could benefit low- to moderate-income families if the state opts in starting in 2027.
   

• Diana Lynn Weatherford (centralmoinfo.com) — A Glen Carbon resident is among the close family mourning the passing of 74-year-old Diana Lynn Weatherford, who died December 12 in Hannibal, Missouri. Born in Indiana and long based in Carlinville, she worked in nursing homes, loved bass fishing and puzzles, and inspired a granddaughter’s nonprofit, Madi’s Kindness Projects, which continues her legacy of helping others.
